Academic Research

The European Healthcare Design Congress 2018 was a great occasion to share knowledge about architecture and health.

Focusing on projects and research applied to healthcare facilities, the Congress offered the possibility to reflect and discuss the role of the built environment on health and wellbeing.

Healthcare environments are complex buildings where patients and workers’ human experiences and functional needs critically interlace together and they represent an interesting field to apply analysis methodologies.

From here the importance of basing the design on evidences collected through spatial analysis and people involvement (e.g. interviews, surveys, focus groups, observations) to deliver an environment that supports the complexity of needs.

BDG’s Creative Analyst, Veronica Baroni, presented her own academic research on an Alzheimer’s care home unit at the conference exhibition: www.salus.global/article-show/ehd2018-p14
