Clarus Go! Head to Head Competition

During this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week (21-23 May 2019) Clarus invited multiple design practices to celebrate their 10th birthday celebrations by partaking in a charitable project to design a new or existing board game on one of their writable glass go! Mobiles.

BDG’s entry spanned across both sides of the go! Mobile glassboard and required both teams to race each other through London to the opposite end of the board. Navigating through Covent Garden passing Big Ben and through Hyde Park, obstacles stand in the way and can either slow or quicken your pace as you play.

To coincide with the opening of Clarus’ new showroom, all teams and guests were invited to a games evening, using those submitted to the competition. Towards the end of the evening, votes were cast for the favourite game and it was up to Clarus to reveal the winner!

Successfully, BDG was voted the winner of the competition and received a generous £2,500 cash prize to be donated to a charity of our choice.

BDG chose Whitechapel Mission to receive the prize money which was accepted by Director, Tony Miller MBE. BDG has had a close relationship with Whitechapel Mission and the work that they carry out across London over previous years. Whitechapel Mission has been serving the homeless and marginalised for over 143 years offering a safe day centre to visit, skills training and career advice. We hope this donation goes towards making a small difference to those affected by homelessness in London.

BDG would like to thank Nick Laughton and the team at Clarus for hosting such a creative competition.
