EDF Energy's UK Training Centre has won numerous awards recently - ranging from heritage awards that pay respect to the sensitive restoration of the site to innovation awards in recognition of the technology training centre that the site now supports. These awards are:
- Utility Technology Innovation Award at the Verdantix Energy Innovation Summit (February 2016)
- Heritage category award winner and Highly Commended in the 'Building of the Year' at the Construction Excellence, South West Built Environment Awards (May 2016)
- Heritage category award winner at the Michelmores Property Awards (May 2016), see video from the judges here.
These are great accolades to the team involved in the project, as from the outset, the aspirations for the Training Centre was to provide a showcase residential training facility in South West England to inspire innovation, creativity and interaction for all EDF Energy staff, business and education partners. The renovation required the sensitive restoration of listed buildings and integration of the contemporary requirements of a world-class technology training centre.
Since opening EDF Energy has increased their training capacity which they can provide at their own facility and they also use the site locally as a technological showcase to other businesses and technology partners.
