Communities & Local Government is a department that sets policy on supporting local government.

BDG undertook the property rationalisation of Eland House. The initial stage of this project was to explore the opportunities for space efficiencies through flexible working, greater efficiency in planning and the provision of additional shared workspaces.  An initial pilot proved the solution which was then rolled out to c.2,200 staff within the building.

The atrium of the building was remodelled to provide a central hub for meeting and catering which brought into use a previously redundant atria and provided significant efficiencies in use of space and cost.

Key architectural elements introduced into the building include double storey meeting rooms, mezzanine levels and informal collaborative space.
